Over 39,000 Ways to Say Thank You
KIMSSEA Team | January 8, 2021
On behalf of KIMSSEA, thank you to those who supported the "Kickstart KIMSSEA Holiday Fundraiser" organized by KIMSSEA and our partner Innovative Canadians for Change (ICChange). A total of $39,895 was raised to restart construction of KIMSSEA!
The “Kickstart KIMSSEA” campaign launched November 2, 2020 with the goal of raising $50,000 to offset the cost of shutting down construction of the Kenya Innovative Manufacturing Space and Social Entrepreneurship Academy (KIMSSEA) back in March 2020 due to COVID-19.
This holiday campaign gifted anyone who donated more than $30 a virtual ticket to Tom Jackson’s Huron Carole concert. The concert has a 30-year history of raising money for various causes, and "Kickstart KIMSSEA" donors enjoyed an evening of music and storytelling on December 13, 2020 through a private viewing party.
For Donald G. Simpson, a long-time supporter of ICChange, the message of hope and love from the concert really resonated, compelling him to offer a matching gift of up to $7,000 for any donations received up to December 31, 2020. According to Mr. Simpson, “this matching gift is given in memory of my close friend, the late Jimmy Kanja, who was an amazing, compassionate entrepreneur in Kenya, and who would be excited with the plans for KIMSSEA, in which his children are involved.”
A very special thank you to Tom Jackson and Donald G. Simpson for helping to make the campaign a success!
If you missed out on the fundraiser but would still like to make a donation to KIMSSEA, please visit our Donation page. 100% of your generous gift will be used to buy bricks, purchase kilns, build walls and pay local wages and no amount is too small to make an impact.
We at KIMSSEA are thrilled to be able to restart construction of our unique manufacturing space and social entrepreneurship academy in 2021. Thanks to all of your support we are one step closer to providing local, social innovators with the resources, mentor-ship, and light manufacturing needed to bring their innovative ideas to fruition, and products and services to market.
